What is RF Microneedling?
Genius® RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy. During treatment, fine needles penetrate to selected depths within the skin and deliver controlled RF energy into the dermis, creating precise thermal coagulation zones.
The physical stimulation created by the microneedles works together with RF heat to activate the skin’s natural repair process. This supports the gradual renewal of collagen and elastin, helping improve the appearance of scars, uneven skin texture, fine lines, and mild skin laxity.

Your collagen, reawakened
Microneedles Reach the Selected Depth
The provider adjusts the microneedle depth according to the treatment area, skin condition, and specific concerns being addressed.
RF Energy Is Delivered into the Dermis
Radiofrequency energy travels through the microneedles into the selected layer of the dermis, creating controlled thermal coagulation points beneath the skin’s surface.
Real-Time Monitoring of Energy Delivery
Throughout treatment, the Genius system monitors tissue impedance and energy delivery, allowing the settings to respond to individual skin conditions.
Collagen and Elastin Remodelling Begins
Following treatment, the skin begins its natural repair process. Collagen and elastin continue to remodel over time, gradually improving skin texture, firmness, scars, pores, and fine lines.

A Series of Treatments Is Usually Recommended
A series of around three Genius® RF microneedling treatments is usually recommended, spaced approximately four to eight weeks apart. After each session, the skin gradually begins its natural repair process while collagen and elastin continue to remodel. The number of treatments required varies depending on your skin condition and treatment goals.
Professional Assessment
Before treatment, we assess your skin type, concerns, treatment areas, and goals. We then select the appropriate microneedle depth and radiofrequency energy settings. A topical numbing cream is usually applied for around 40–60 minutes to help improve comfort during treatment.
During the Treatment
During treatment, insulated microneedles enter the skin and deliver radiofrequency energy at a selected depth. The Genius® system monitors skin impedance in real time and adjusts energy delivery based on the skin’s response. Treatment usually takes around 30–45 minutes, depending on the area and treatment coverage.
Aftercare
Temporary redness, mild swelling, small needle marks, or roughness may occur after treatment. These effects usually improve gradually within one to three days. Gently cleanse your skin, keep it moisturized, and use sun protection. Temporarily avoid exfoliation, irritating skincare products, and high-heat environments.
Skin condition, treatment experience, and the timing of results vary from person to person. Your treatment area, energy settings, and aftercare plan will be determined after a professional assessment.

Questions you may have
Some clients begin to notice early improvements in skin texture, pores, or firmness after their first treatment. More noticeable concerns, such as acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, or laxity, usually improve gradually over multiple sessions. Many clients receive approximately three to four treatments, spaced four to eight weeks apart.
The full results of Genius® RF Microneedling do not appear immediately and are usually not achieved with a single treatment.
During treatment, microneedles deliver radiofrequency energy into the skin. This creates small, controlled areas of thermal coagulation and activates the skin’s natural healing response. Collagen and elastin gradually remodel over time, so improvements usually develop over several weeks or months.
After the initial redness and swelling settle, some clients notice that their skin feels smoother, more refined, or firmer. Different concerns may improve at different rates:
Skin texture: Changes may be noticeable relatively early.
Enlarged pores and fine lines: Improvement usually develops over several weeks and may require multiple treatments.
Acne scars and other depressed scars: These often require several months and multiple sessions to improve gradually.
Skin laxity: Firming develops over time as collagen remodels.
According to Cynosure Lutronic, many clients may need approximately three to four treatments, usually spaced four to eight weeks apart. This is a general guideline and does not apply equally to everyone.
The number of treatments you need may depend on:
The type, depth, and extent of your acne scars
The severity of enlarged pores, fine lines, or laxity
The treatment area and skin thickness
The microneedle depth and radiofrequency energy used
How your skin recovers after each session
The level of improvement you hope to achieve
Mild texture or early pore concerns may require fewer treatments. Deeper or more widespread acne scars, or a combination of scars, pores, fine lines, and laxity, may require a more complete treatment plan.
Your skin needs enough time between sessions to heal and begin remodelling collagen. More frequent treatment does not necessarily produce better results. If your skin remains red, dry, sensitive, or crusted, your provider may recommend waiting longer before the next session.
For a more accurate comparison, take before-and-after photographs in the same lighting, angle, and facial expression. Temporary swelling can make the skin look fuller, so the appearance on the day of treatment should not be considered the final result.
After completing the initial series, the need for maintenance should be reassessed based on your results, natural ageing, ongoing acne, and current skin condition.
A topical numbing cream is usually applied before treatment to reduce discomfort. During the procedure, you may feel brief pinching, heat, pressure, or aching. The experience varies depending on the treatment area, settings, and your personal tolerance.
Genius® combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy. You may therefore feel both the microneedles entering the skin and heat or pressure as the radiofrequency energy is delivered.
A topical anaesthetic is usually applied before treatment. This helps reduce discomfort at the skin’s surface, but it may not completely remove the deeper heat or pressure created by the radiofrequency energy. Some clinics may also use cool air to make the procedure more comfortable.
Your experience may be affected by:
The treatment area and skin thickness
Microneedle depth
Radiofrequency energy and delivery time
The number of passes over the same area
The depth and firmness of scar tissue
Your personal pain tolerance
Sleep, stress, and your physical condition that day
Areas with less soft tissue or more prominent bone, such as the forehead, cheekbones, and jawbone, may feel more sensitive than areas with thicker tissue, such as the cheeks.
Tell your provider how you feel throughout the procedure. Report sharp pain, persistent burning, or discomfort that feels noticeably different in one area. The provider can then adjust the depth or energy, or pause the treatment if needed.
More pain does not mean better results. The settings should be selected according to your skin thickness, treatment goals, and tolerance.
Numbing cream usually remains on the skin for approximately 40 to 60 minutes. The device treatment itself generally takes about 20 to 45 minutes. Your total appointment time will depend on the treatment area and preparation required.
The device portion of a Genius® treatment usually takes approximately 20 to 45 minutes, depending on the area and treatment size.
A small area of acne scarring may take less time. A full-face treatment, face-and-neck treatment, or body treatment may require longer.
Your total time at the clinic may include:
Consultation and health screening
Cleansing the treatment area
Before-treatment photographs
Assessment of scars, pores, texture, and laxity
Application of topical numbing cream
Waiting approximately 40 to 60 minutes for the numbing cream to work
Removing the numbing cream and disinfecting the skin
Selecting the treatment depth, energy, and areas
Performing the procedure
Post-treatment cleansing, soothing care, and aftercare instructions
The full appointment may take approximately 1.5 to two hours. The exact timing depends on the clinic’s process and the areas being treated.
If other treatments are included on the same day, the appointment will take longer. Important steps such as health screening, numbing time, skin disinfection, and post-treatment checks should not be skipped simply to shorten the appointment.
Common reactions include redness, mild swelling, warmth, pinpoint marks, and temporary roughness. These may begin to improve within 1 to 3 days, but deeper or higher-energy treatments may require more recovery time.
Genius® RF Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure. The microneedles enter the skin and deliver radiofrequency energy at selected depths. Some redness, swelling, warmth, or tenderness is therefore expected after treatment.
According to information from Cynosure Lutronic, mild redness and swelling commonly begin to settle within approximately 24 to 36 hours. General recovery may take around one to three days, although some clients may need close to one week.
You may also experience:
Pinpoint marks or small areas of crusting
Temporary dryness, roughness, or tightness
Mild itching, sensitivity, or tingling
Tenderness or discomfort when the area is pressed
Temporary bruising
Temporary darkening of existing pigmentation or acne marks
Recovery time depends on the treatment depth, radiofrequency energy, treatment density, number of passes, treatment area, and your individual healing response.
A treatment focused on deeper acne scars will generally require more recovery time than a lighter treatment for mild texture or pore concerns.
“Minimal downtime” does not mean that the skin will look completely unchanged. Even if you can work and continue normal activities, redness, swelling, pinpoint marks, or roughness may still be visible at close range.
If you have a wedding, photoshoot, important event, or on-camera appearance coming up, allow more recovery time than the minimum estimate.
It can be. Genius® delivers radiofrequency energy beneath the skin and does not primarily target melanin at the skin’s surface. It may therefore be used across a range of skin tones after assessment. However, microneedling and heat can still cause post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), so professional evaluation is important.
Some laser treatments target melanin. People with darker skin or a recent tan may therefore require additional precautions with those procedures.
Genius® uses microneedles to deliver radiofrequency energy at selected depths within the skin. Its main effect does not depend on targeting melanin at the surface, so it may be considered for a broader range of skin tones.
Genius® also offers adjustable settings and real-time tissue-impedance monitoring. This allows the provider to adjust the microneedle depth and energy based on the treatment area, skin thickness, and tissue response.
However, being suitable for different skin tones does not mean there is no risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Both microneedling and radiofrequency heat create a temporary inflammatory and healing response.
The risk of pigmentation may increase if:
The energy or treatment density is not appropriate
The skin is exposed to significant sunlight after treatment
Small scabs are scratched or picked
Acids, exfoliants, retinol, or other irritating products are restarted too soon
The skin is already inflamed or its barrier is damaged
Before treatment, tell your provider if you:
Have developed noticeable pigmentation after acne, injuries, or previous cosmetic procedures
Are prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
Have melasma or pigmentation that may be sensitive to heat
Have recently tanned, experienced sunburn, or had significant sun exposure
Currently have sensitive, inflamed, or barrier-damaged skin
Treatment depth, energy, and density should be adjusted according to your skin tone, skin condition, treatment area, and history of pigmentation.
After treatment, follow the aftercare instructions carefully. Keep the skin moisturized, use broad-spectrum sunscreen, avoid intentional tanning and prolonged sun exposure, and do not restart irritating skincare products too early.
Darker skin tone does not automatically prevent you from having Genius® RF Microneedling, but assessment, appropriate settings, sun protection, and aftercare are especially important.
Yes. Genius® may be combined with laser, pico laser, injectable, or other skin treatments after professional assessment. However, not every procedure should be performed on the same day. The correct order and timing depend on the areas treated, your recovery, and your goals.
Different aesthetic treatments address different concerns and tissue layers. Genius® delivers radiofrequency energy through microneedles at selected depths. Common treatment goals include improving acne scars, pores, skin texture, fine lines, and laxity.
Lasers, picosecond lasers, IPL, botulinum toxin, fillers, and other procedures may target pigmentation, blood vessels, dynamic lines, facial volume, or other concerns. Some clients may therefore benefit from a combined plan that addresses more than one type of skin concern.
When planning combined treatments, the provider should consider:
Whether the treatments affect the same area
The redness, swelling, and inflammation caused by the first procedure
Whether the skin still has open channels, crusting, broken areas, or sensitivity
The type, location, and date of any injectable product
Whether your skin is prone to sensitivity, pigmentation, or slower healing
Your overall goals and acceptable recovery time
Tell your provider if you recently received hyaluronic acid, a collagen-stimulating injectable, botulinum toxin, thread lifting, laser, picosecond laser, a chemical peel, or another RF microneedling treatment. Whenever possible, provide the treatment date, product name, and area treated.
Skin may look healed at the surface before the underlying tissue has fully recovered. Too many procedures in the same area within a short period may increase redness, sensitivity, pigmentation, and recovery time.
A combined plan should not simply include as many treatments as possible. The priority is to address your main concerns in the right order and allow enough time for your skin to heal.
The cost depends on the treatment area, treatment size, skin concern, and number of sessions required. After assessing your skin, our team will explain the recommended plan and exact cost before treatment.
There is no single Genius® price that suits every client. The cost may be influenced by the treatment area, treatment size, severity of acne scarring or laxity, treatment depth, and recommended number of sessions.
For example, a small area of acne scarring, the full face, the face and neck, and body scars require different treatment areas and plans. Even when treating the same general area, clients may have different skin thickness, scar depth, and goals.
When requesting a quote, ask what it includes:
The exact treatment area and size
Whether it is a localized or full-face treatment
Whether the neck or another body area is included
The recommended number of sessions and interval
Skin assessment and before-treatment photographs
Topical numbing cream and basic post-treatment care
Follow-up and progress assessment
Any recommended combination treatments and their costs
It is not helpful to compare treatments only by price or number of pulses. Microneedle depth, radiofrequency energy, delivery time, and treatment density can all be adjusted. More pulses or higher energy do not automatically produce better results.
The most important factors are whether the correct areas are being treated, whether the settings are appropriate, and whether the provider can create a clear plan for your acne scars, pores, fine lines, or laxity.
Genius® is not suitable for everyone. During consultation, tell us about your health, allergies, implanted devices, skin conditions in the treatment area, medications, and recent aesthetic procedures.
Genius® uses microneedles to enter the skin and deliver radiofrequency energy. Health screening, skin assessment, and a review of previous procedures are therefore required before treatment.
The manufacturer also states that suitability, treatment settings, and the treatment plan should be determined by a qualified healthcare professional.
Tell your provider if you:
Are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding
Have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or another implanted electronic device
Have a metal implant, threads, or another implanted material in the treatment area
Take anticoagulant medication or have a clotting disorder
Have diabetes, an autoimmune condition, or abnormal wound healing
Have a history of keloids or hypertrophic scars
Have an infection, wound, rash, eczema, or significant inflammation in the treatment area
Have a history of cold sores or herpes simplex
Are allergic to numbing cream, antiseptic products, or metals
Take prescription medication or have previously used oral isotretinoin
Recently received injectables, laser, picosecond laser, thread lifting, or another energy-based treatment
Recently had significant sun exposure, sunburn, or damage to the skin barrier
These factors may affect whether treatment is suitable, how it should be scheduled, the type of anaesthesia used, the treatment settings, and recovery time.
Do not stop prescription medication on your own. If necessary, seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional first.
Genius® inserts microneedles to a selected depth and delivers radiofrequency energy through them. This creates small, controlled areas of heat within the tissue and activates the skin’s healing and collagen-remodelling response.
During treatment, the microneedles enter the skin vertically. The provider selects the needle depth and radiofrequency energy based on the treatment area, skin thickness, and concern being addressed.
Once the needles reach the selected depth, radiofrequency energy is delivered through them. This creates small, controlled areas of thermal coagulation around the needles. The energy is delivered within the skin rather than acting only at the surface.
The standard Genius® handpiece uses a 7 × 7 array containing 49 microneedles. Needle depth, energy, and delivery time can be adjusted for different areas. The same settings do not need to be used across the entire treatment area.
A specialized precision handpiece may be used for delicate areas around the eyes. It has fewer microneedles in a finer arrangement. This design allows the provider to use more precise and conservative settings for thinner skin, while supporting even energy distribution and treatment comfort.
One of the system’s technical features is its ability to monitor tissue impedance and actual energy delivery. Tissue thickness, hydration, and resistance may vary between the forehead, cheeks, chin, and scar tissue. The system collects tissue feedback to support more consistent energy delivery.
The controlled stimulation from the microneedles, together with the thermal effect of radiofrequency energy, activates the skin’s healing process and supports gradual collagen and elastin remodelling.
Results therefore develop over the following weeks and months rather than appearing all at once on the day of treatment.
Genius® is commonly used to address acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines, uneven texture, and mild to moderate laxity. It may be used on the face, neck, upper chest, and selected body areas. A specialized handpiece may be used around the eyes after professional assessment, but treatment is not applied directly to the eyeball and cannot correct every type of under-eye bag, dark circle, or eyelid drooping.
The microneedle depth, radiofrequency energy, and delivery time can be adjusted for different areas and concerns. After professional assessment, Genius® may be considered for:
Acne scars and other depressed scars
Enlarged pores
Rough or uneven skin texture
Fine lines and certain wrinkles
Reduced skin elasticity
Mild to moderate laxity
Certain scars or texture concerns on the body
Common treatment areas include:
Forehead, cheeks, and areas around the nose
Around the mouth and chin
Jawline
Neck and upper chest
Selected body areas with depressed scars or texture concerns
Suitable skin around the eyes after professional assessment
Different concerns require different needle depths, energy levels, and treatment densities. Deeper acne scars may require a more comprehensive plan based on the depth and structure of the scars. Mild pores, fine lines, or rough texture may be treated with more conservative settings.
Not every scar, enlarged pore, or laxity concern can be treated effectively with Genius® alone. Deep ice-pick scars, significant pigmentation, active acne, or advanced tissue sagging may require other procedures or a combined plan.
Treatment around the eyes
The skin around the eyes is thinner and has less underlying fat. It is also close to the eyes, blood vessels, nerves, and bone. The same settings used on thicker areas such as the cheeks should not be used directly around the eyes.
A specialized Genius® microneedling handpiece may be used for delicate areas around the eyes. It has fewer needles in a finer arrangement, allowing the provider to select more precise and conservative depths and energy levels.
After assessment, treatment may help improve:
Fine lines around the eyes
Rough skin texture
Reduced elasticity
Mild skin laxity around the eyes
However, Genius® is not applied directly to the eyeball and cannot address every eye-area concern:
Under-eye bags: These may be caused by protruding fat, skin laxity, bone structure, or fluid retention. Genius® alone may not provide significant improvement.
Dark circles: These may result from pigmentation, blood vessels, hollowing, shadows, or thin skin. RF microneedling is not suitable for every type.
Significant eyelid drooping: This may involve excess skin, brow position, or eyelid-muscle function. Genius® cannot replace an eye examination or surgical assessment.
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, or pinpoint marks may occur around the eyes. Recovery may differ from other facial areas. Follow the instructions for gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and sun protection. Avoid rubbing, scratching, or massaging the treated area.
Before treatment, tell your provider if you have had eye or eyelid surgery, vision-correction surgery, fillers or threads around the eyes, or if you have dry eye disease, glaucoma, retinal disease, or another eye condition. Infection, wounds, dermatitis, cold sores, permanent makeup, or implants around the eyes also require individual assessment.
Traditional microneedling mainly uses needle stimulation to activate the skin’s healing response. Genius® also delivers radiofrequency energy after the needles enter the skin, creating a controlled thermal effect and monitoring energy delivery in real time.
Both traditional microneedling and Genius® use fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin. This activates the skin’s natural repair process. The main difference is that Genius® also delivers radiofrequency heat.
Traditional microneedling relies mainly on the mechanical stimulation created by the needles. It is commonly used to improve mild roughness, fine lines, enlarged pores, and superficial acne scars.
With Genius®, radiofrequency energy is delivered through the needles after they reach the selected depth. This creates small, controlled areas of thermal coagulation within the tissue and further supports collagen and elastin remodelling.
Key differences include:
Type of energy: Traditional microneedling mainly uses mechanical needle stimulation. Genius® combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy.
Treatment settings: Genius® allows the provider to adjust needle depth, energy, and delivery time for different areas and concerns.
Thermal effect: Genius® creates controlled heat within selected skin layers. Traditional microneedling does not necessarily include thermal energy.
Monitoring: Genius® monitors tissue impedance and actual energy delivery during treatment.
Common goals: Genius® is often used for acne scars, collagen remodelling, fine lines, pores, and skin firmness.
Recovery: Deeper or higher-energy RF microneedling may cause more noticeable redness, swelling, and roughness than superficial traditional microneedling.
Genius® is not always the better option in every situation. Traditional microneedling may be enough for mild texture concerns, early pore enlargement, or a gentler skin-renewal treatment.
For more noticeable acne scars, fine lines, enlarged pores, reduced elasticity, or mild to moderate laxity, Genius® may be considered after professional assessment.
The best option depends on your concern, required treatment depth, acceptable downtime, and goals—not simply the device name or which treatment uses more energy.
Complete removal cannot be always guaranteed. The goal is to reduce the depth, edges, shadows, and overall visibility of acne scars, helping the skin appear smoother and more even.
Acne scars form when inflammation damages the skin’s tissue and collagen structure. Scar type, depth, age, and the degree of fibrous attachment vary from person to person, so treatment results also vary.
Genius® delivers radiofrequency energy through microneedles at selected depths. This activates a healing response within the scarred area and supports gradual collagen remodelling. Treatment may help make depressions shallower, soften scar edges, and reduce the shadows and unevenness that become visible under different lighting.
However, established structural acne scars usually cannot be completely removed with one type of treatment alone. The degree of improvement may depend on:
Scar type, depth, and extent
How long the scars have been present
Whether there are fibrous attachments beneath the scars
Whether active or inflammatory acne is still present
Number of treatments and settings used
Individual collagen response and aftercare
Whether other acne-scar treatments are also needed
Shallower rolling scars and certain boxcar scars may respond more readily to gradual RF microneedling treatment. Deep, narrow ice-pick scars or scars with significant fibrous tethering may require other procedures in addition to Genius®.
It is also important to distinguish between acne scars, enlarged pores, red acne marks, and brown pigmentation. They may look similar, but they develop for different reasons and require different treatments.
A realistic goal is to make acne scars gradually shallower, improve overall skin smoothness, and reduce visible shadows—not to promise that every scar will completely disappear.
You can generally wash your face gently with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser after approximately 24 hours. Wait at least 24 to 48 hours before wearing makeup, and make sure the needle channels have closed with no oozing or significant irritation. Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and heavy sweating for approximately 24 to 48 hours. Timing may vary based on treatment depth and recovery.
After Genius® RF Microneedling, the skin may have small needle channels, redness, swelling, and sensitivity. During early recovery, keep the area clean, moisturized, and protected from heat, sweating, irritation, and sunlight.
Mild redness and swelling often begin to settle within approximately 24 to 36 hours. Full recovery may take several days, and some clients may need close to one week.
Washing your face
You can generally begin washing the treated area after approximately 24 hours, or at the time recommended by your provider.
Use lukewarm water and a simple, gentle cleanser. Clean the skin carefully with your hands and pat it dry with a clean towel.
Do not use hot water, scrubs, cleansing brushes, or facial-cleansing devices. Do not rub, scratch, or remove small scabs. If you still have significant oozing, broken skin, or intense burning, contact the clinic before returning to normal cleansing.
Wearing makeup
Do not apply makeup on the day of treatment. Wait at least 24 to 48 hours and make sure the needle channels have closed. The skin should have no oozing, broken areas, or significant burning.
Some aftercare protocols recommend waiting closer to 48 hours to reduce the risk of irritation, infection, or breakouts.
When you begin wearing makeup again, use clean tools and avoid heavy foundation or products containing fragrance, alcohol, or other irritating ingredients. Stop applying makeup if the skin remains noticeably red, swollen, crusted, or sensitive.
Exercising
Light activities such as walking are usually acceptable. Avoid strenuous exercise, hot yoga, and activities that cause significant sweating or increase body temperature for approximately 24 to 48 hours.
Heavy sweating, friction, and heat may worsen redness, swelling, and irritation. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, hot springs, and swimming until the skin’s surface has begun to recover.
What else should I avoid?
Until the skin has fully settled, temporarily avoid:
Retinol, tretinoin, and other vitamin A products
AHAs, BHAs, and other exfoliating ingredients
Scrubs, chemical exfoliation, and cleansing devices
Strong brightening products or other irritating skincare
Prolonged sun exposure, tanning, and tanning beds
Scratching, picking, or massaging the treated area
Use a gentle moisturizer recommended by your provider and apply broad-spectrum sunscreen. Restart stronger active ingredients only after redness, roughness, crusting, and sensitivity have resolved, following your provider’s instructions.
These timelines are general guidelines. Deeper acne-scar treatments, higher energy, or larger treatment areas may require a longer recovery period. Do not resume makeup or strenuous exercise based only on a fixed number of days if the skin still has open channels, oozing, significant swelling, or persistent burning.
It can, although not everyone develops it. Any microneedling treatment that causes inflammation and healing may lead to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Appropriate settings, aftercare, and sun protection can help reduce the risk.
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, or PIH, occurs when the skin produces extra pigment during the healing process after inflammation or irritation. This can make the treated area temporarily look darker.
Genius® delivers radiofrequency energy through microneedles at selected depths. The radiofrequency energy does not primarily target melanin at the skin’s surface, so the treatment may be used across different skin tones after assessment. However, this does not remove the risk of pigmentation.
The risk may be higher if you:
Have a darker skin tone or easily develop dark acne marks
Have experienced pigmentation after acne, injuries, or previous aesthetic treatments
Have melasma or active pigmentation concerns
Receive treatment with greater depth, energy, or density
Have significant sun exposure or do not use sunscreen afterward
Scratch the skin or remove small scabs too early
Restart acids, retinol, or irritating products too soon
Develop an infection or prolonged inflammation
Have treatments too frequently before the skin has fully recovered
PIH does not always mean that permanent skin damage has occurred. However, it may take several weeks or months to fade. The timeline depends on skin tone, the level of inflammation, and individual pigment metabolism.
Before treatment, your provider should assess your skin tone, melasma, history of pigmentation, and sun-protection habits. The treatment depth, energy, and density should be personalized rather than kept the same for every client.
After treatment, cleanse and moisturize gently, avoid scratching and exfoliation, and do not restart irritating skincare too soon. Use broad-spectrum sunscreen regularly.
Contact the clinic if pigmentation continues to darken or spread, or if it appears together with significant inflammation, pain, or abnormal crusting.
Improvements in skin texture, acne scars, and firmness may last for some time, but the results are not permanent. Duration depends on the concern treated, number of sessions, natural ageing, acne recurrence, and lifestyle habits.
Genius® activates the skin’s natural healing response and supports gradual collagen and elastin remodelling. The full result develops over the following weeks and months rather than appearing immediately.
There is no single duration that applies to everyone. Results may be affected by:
Whether you are treating acne scars, pores, fine lines, or laxity
The severity and size of the treatment area
Number of treatments and settings used
Age and individual rate of collagen loss
Sun exposure, smoking, sleep, and other lifestyle habits
Weight or hormonal changes
Whether inflammatory acne continues to occur
Daily skincare and sun protection
Different treatment goals may also last differently.
Structural improvement in acne scars from collagen remodelling does not usually disappear immediately when treatment stops. However, if inflammatory acne continues, new scars may still form.
Pores, fine lines, and skin firmness continue to change with natural ageing, collagen loss, and lifestyle factors. These results will not remain unchanged permanently.
Consistent sun protection, avoiding smoking, maintaining stable sleep habits, and controlling active acne may help protect the improvement.
After the initial treatment series, the need for maintenance should be reassessed based on your skin condition, results, and goals. Not every client needs to repeat treatment on the same annual schedule.
Genius® is not designed as a facial fat-reduction treatment. However, people with limited facial fat or existing hollow areas require a more careful assessment and appropriate treatment depths and energy settings.
Genius® delivers radiofrequency energy through microneedles at selected skin depths. This creates controlled thermal effects within the tissue and supports skin healing and collagen remodelling.
Its main goals are to improve acne scars, pores, fine lines, skin texture, and laxity—not to reduce facial fat.
However, skin and fat thickness vary significantly across the face. The temples, forehead, cheekbones, and certain parts of the cheeks may have thinner tissue. The same depth and energy should not be used automatically across the entire face.
Tell your provider if you have a slim face, limited facial fat, or existing hollowing around the temples, under-eye area, or cheeks. You should also disclose significant recent weight loss and any previous fat-reduction treatments, fat grafting, fillers, or facial-contouring procedures.
Deeper treatment and higher energy are not automatically better. The provider should adjust the microneedle depth, radiofrequency energy, delivery time, and treatment density based on tissue thickness, treatment goals, and overall facial balance.
Clients who are concerned about facial volume loss may require a more conservative and personalized plan. Areas that are not suitable for treatment may need to be avoided.

If a business has several locations, do not check only the brand name. Make sure the address in the official search result matches the location you plan to visit.
At the clinic, you can ask about the device name, needle-cartridge protocol, provider qualifications, and how the microneedle depth, radiofrequency energy, and treatment area will be personalized.
If a clinic does not appear in the online directory, this does not automatically mean that its device is not authentic. The registered business name, location details, or delays in updating the directory may affect search results. Ask the clinic for its registered name or contact Cynosure Canada directly for further confirmation.
Mild redness, swelling, warmth, pinpoint marks, and temporary roughness usually improve gradually. Contact the clinic promptly if you develop worsening pain, significant blisters or burns, unusual swelling, signs of infection, or unexpected changes in skin colour.
After Genius® RF Microneedling, the skin may develop mild redness, swelling, warmth, tenderness, pinpoint marks, or temporary roughness. These are common short-term reactions and usually improve as the skin heals.
Contact the clinic promptly if symptoms do not improve, continue to worsen, spread, or significantly affect your daily activities. Do not try to manage concerning symptoms with acids, exfoliants, or other irritating products.
Contact the clinic if you experience:
Increasing pain, stinging, or burning
Significant blisters, burns, or widespread abnormal crusting
Swelling that continues to spread, does not improve, or becomes noticeably uneven
Pus, an unusual odour, increasing warmth, spreading redness, or other signs of infection
Continued bleeding or fluid drainage
Widespread bruising, a collection of blood beneath the skin, or significant tenderness
Numbness, tingling, or another change in sensation that does not improve
Unusual lumps, depressions, raised areas, or texture changes
Rapid darkening or another unusual change in skin colour
A recurrence of cold sores or another herpes outbreak
Seek emergency medical care immediately if you develop difficulty breathing, significant swelling of the throat or face, a widespread rash, dizziness, or another sign of a severe allergic reaction. Do not wait for the clinic to respond.
When contacting the clinic, provide clear photographs if possible. Note when the symptoms began, how quickly they changed, your level of pain, and any skincare products or medications you have used.
Until you receive further instructions, do not break blisters, remove scabs, squeeze the skin, or massage the treated area forcefully. These actions may increase the risk of infection, scarring, or pigmentation.
